Followship 101
The congregation becomes the spiritual family for the disciple. Statistics show that those that get a ‘sense of belonging’ quickly, are the ones that are more likely to stay and grow in their relationship with God. Healthy assimilation into the family of God is therefore our primary goal for new members.
Every individual, from the time they make their first move toward a relationship with Jesus Christ, is directed and continually encouraged to take part in a structured approach designed to help them connect with God and connect with the family of God.
First we involve them in a personal Home Bible Study, which not only teaches them the Word of God in a casual setting, but also immediately creates a ‘helping hand’ relationship with a more mature Christian. Secondly, we enroll them in our Sunday morning Discipleship class, which places them in a smaller class setting with other newer disciples.
Once they have established Cathedral as their home church, we invite them to a special New Comer Fellowship, where food is served and they are introduced to all of the leadership and ministry staff.
Finally, as the disciple begins to show a willingness and readiness, they are encouraged to find a place of ministry involvement, where they then undergo the necessary training to prepare them for that specific ministry.
