Pastor

DAVID T. ELMS

SENIOR PASTOR

God has fulfilled many dreams for Pastor David Elms in his time here in Fort Lauderdale. He is a man who has built his life around the idea that the family altar is the hub of the spiritual universe. Rev. Elms has been married to his beautifully gifted wife, Melanie, for twenty six years and they have four amazing children, and one daughter-n-law.

God continues to fulfill our pastor's dreams to make an eternally positive impact on South Florida and be a contributing factor in the Kingdom of God. He has served in elected office as Florida district youth president, Florida Media Missions director, and has served as the executive presbyter for the southeastern zone of the United States in the UPCI. He currently serves as the Florida section 8 presbyter and The Town of Davie chaplain. He is a sought after speaker at conferences and state camps in addition to being a great husband, Father, and friend.

Continuing education is a passion of Rev. Elms. After graduating from Garinger high school in Charlotte, NC (1985), he attended North Carolina State University in hopes of becoming an engineer, initially resisting the call of God for ministry. He transitioned to Bible college, surrendering to the call, and graduated from Jackson College of Ministries. Pastor Elms is presently enrolled in graduate school at the Assembly of God Theological Seminary.

WORSHIP & THE ARTS

There is nothing quite like pentecostal music and worship! Words cannot adequately describe it; one must experience it to fully appreciate why it plays such an integral role in a Spirit-led service.

Our Music Ministry is led by noted songwriter and recording artist Melanie Elms. She leads the congregation with music that will escort you into a face-to-face encounter with the Lord of glory!

Spirit-charged music & worship is the essential key to welcoming the rule of the kingdom of God into human experience. Worship is the primary means for establishing an atmosphere of expectation for the transforming entry of God's presence; for the clear reception of God's Word; and for the dynamic entry of God's power.

Melanie Elms and The Cathedral invites you to come and experience with us!

2017 marked the 25th year of Pastoral service for David Elms at the Cathedral of Pentecost.

"...Like the bird who, pausing in her flight, Awhile on boughs too slight, Feels them give way beneath her, and yet sings, Knowing that she hat wings!" - Victor Hugo

OUR CORE VALUES

The Cathedral of Pentecost is guided by the core values of quality, integrity, innovation, diversity, inclusiveness, service, collaboration, truth, and advancing the cause of "helping people become". The Cathedral's vision is to be known for its distinctive strengths of integrity, flexibility, creativity and responsiveness, and for its commitment to serve the common good of humanity by following Jesus Christ, the God Almighty and His Word, the Bible. The Cathedral is committed to creating an environment in which passionate encounters with God are common.

OUR MISSION

Bringing people into relationship with Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Ghost and in fellowship with His disciples.

OUR VISION

God has appointed us in this end-time hour to raise up a work grounded in Bible truths and with the demonstration and power of the Spirit, worship Him with our whole being thus, producing life-changing miracles. This all being established in the very midst of a region renowned as a pool of pleasure and vice.

"...But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound." -Romans 5:20

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The basic and fundamental doctrine of The Cathedral of Pentecost shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, found in the second chapter of the Book of Acts, at the birth of the New Testament Church, that clearly being; repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.
